California Vacation! Day 1

In June, we were lucky enough to be able to go on a week long vacation with my side of the family. We went to a Marriott resort in Newport Beach, CA. It was so fun and completely awesome! Of course we have a million pictures and stories so I'll break it up into days like I did with our Vegas trip.
Day one (Friday the 17th) was pretty low key since most of the day was spent at the airport, but that was exciting too since it was Aiden's first time on an airplane. He was SOO excited the whole way to the airport and while we were there. When we went to the airport to pick up Uncle Nate he loved seeing the airplanes take off and land (from a distance) so it was especially fun for him to see them up close from the windows inside.
When we boarded the airplane, there were several empty rows in the back so we all just moved back there hoping Aiden wouldn't bother any other passengers. He started out in his carseat but then he was allowed to wander. He did pretty well and charmed the flight attendants of course. What else was to be expected? We let him run back and forth in the aisles and go from lap to lap and look out the windows and swing on Grandpa and Daddy's arms. He did really well the whole flight there and the only problem on the way back was that the grumpy man flight attendant refused to let him sit on our laps for landing. He fussed and fought against the carseat the whole time down. It bugged me because Aiden was a "lap infant" on my ticket but since there happened to be an extra seat we brought his carseat. If the flight had been full he'd have been on my lap anyway. I just wanted to tell all the annoyed passengers that it was the mean old mans' fault and not mine that I had a noisy little boy. Oh well.
Here we GOOO!
Aiden made sure he was totally up to date on all the airplane safety procedures.
And then he moved on to more exciting literature. (He's playing peek-a-boo through the see through part.)
These next pictures are actually from the day we flew home.
It was so hard to pull Aiden away from the window because he had a great view of all the airplanes SO close!
Aiden discovered this sign and decided he better make sure he could come on the plane.
A little bit too tall.
"Great. What are we going to do now?" Good thing there were extra seats on both flights! ;)
You can't tell me that's not cute!
Aiden's sweet "king of the hill" ride to and from the airplane.
We got to the hotel too early to check in so we found a nearby grocery store and stocked up on groceries for the week so we wouldn't have to go out to eat so much. When we got back we had to wait around for a little while but then we able to go unload everything in the condo. It was perfect. Two bedrooms, one with a pull out sofa, and another pull out couch in the living room. It also had a great size kitchen and two bathrooms. Just the right size for all seven of us to be comfy together. Then we changed into our swimming suits to find a good beach. That took WAY longer than we thought it would because everywhere we went they charged a fee to park. We were only going to be there for a little bit since it was pretty cold (for June/beach weather) and since we were all hungry and tired. Finally after driving through town, we found a nice beach that looked clean and well taken care of. It was a nice walk down a boardwalk and some stairs through pretty landscaping. Aiden had fallen asleep in the car though so he was not too thrilled with his first beach experience. It was cold, windy, and he just wanted to back in the car seat sound asleep. We made him stick his feet in anyway! :)

After we had frozen for long enough we washed off and went back "home" for dinner. The rest of the night was just relaxing, unpacking, and enjoying the hot tub at the hotel. Aiden love love loved being in the hot tub because bath time is one of his favorite pastimes and this hot tub was like a giant bathtub that he could swim in with his entire family!

  1. SO fun!!! I know exactly zero flight attendants who wouldn't be whooped with that particular carry-on. :D
